‘Am I a Wolf?’ snatches award in Bulgaria

Iran’s ‘Am I a Wolf?’ grabs award at the Int'l Animation Film Festival of Golden Kuker- Sofia.

Iran’s animated short film ‘Am I a Wolf?’ has scored another victory, grabbing an award at this year’s edition of the International Animation Film Festival (IAFF) Golden Kuker - Sofia in Bulgaria.

‘Am I a Wolf?’, directed by Amir-Houshang Moeen, received the Best Short film made for kids award at the 10th edition of the IAFF.

Based on the fantasy book by Afsaneh Shabannejad, the animation is a recreation of the classic fable of ‘The Wolf and the Lamb’,

“The students are performing a theater called 'The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats'. Everybody has a role. They are totally getting carried away by their roles in a way that the borders between reality and theatrical performance in now hardly realized,” a synopsis for the short reads.

Meanwhile, the child acting as the wolf in the story is scripted to be defeated. That makes him feel lonely and annoyed. As he takes his role too seriously, a bit of chaos startles the group. In the end, the presence of other children and his friends take him out of the mood.

The film has received various awards at several festivals, including the 6th Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon and the 2019 Media Arts Festival in Japan.

The 10th edition of the IAFF took place last month in the Bulgarian capital.
